Environmental Education School Field Trips

funded though SDG&E's Environmental Champion Grant

The MTRP Foundation school programs meet Core Curriculum requirements and Next Generation Science Standards. The curriculum has been developed for individual grade levels. Teachers can also request an emphasis on specific subjects depending on the lessons being taught in the classroom at the time of the field trip.

One-Day Field Trip for Grades K-6

Field trips last three hours and are offered on Wednesdays and Fridays throughout the school year. Please note: We will begin scheduling field trips for 2018-2019 at the end of September.

One-day field trips include:

  • Guided nature hike with an Education Program Instructor.
  • Kumeyaay history and culture presentation upon request.
  • Tour Visitor Center, including an educational scavenger hunt, the exhibits, and a film.
  • Bus reimbursement up to $210 per trip.

Overnight Camping Program for 6th grade classes in the San Diego Unified School District

This pilot program offers an overnight camping experience at Mission Trails Kumeyaay Lake Campground. Overnight Camping Program includes:

  • Check in at 10AM on Thursday and check out by noon on Friday.
  • Reimbursed transportation to and from the campground up to $210 per trip.
  • Campsites, tents, and mattresses provided.
  • Guided nature hike with an Education Program Instructor.
  • Kumeyaay history and culture presentation.
  • Stargazing with telescopes and instructors.
